As a remedy to the consequences of overpopulation and impending climate change, scientists have produced a revolutionary procedure referred to as'Downsizing', in which individuals could be shrunk to 5 inches. This means fewer resources are consumed, the pollution decreased and individuals get a opportunity to live a lavish lifestyle than their large counterparts since a mere $100,000 is changed to $12,00,000 once you're transformed. The little world appears perfect, with the only catch being; the process is irreversible. Paul and Audrey Safranek, a middle course, cash-strapped couple choose to opt for the process at a better lifestyle in a gated neighborhood of little individuals known as Leisureland, however, Audrey grows cold feet after Paul was shrunk. Even though Dusan lives lavishly and desires Paul to be contented with the material things around himLan Tran chooses him into the poorer part of Leisureland which gradually transforms him.
'Downsizing' is a really different movie by Alexander Payne who's made'Nebraska' and'The Descendants'. Sure that the dark humour is current like the past two movies, but on this particular one, he's taken the microscope into the topic of downsizing people. While our technology can one day save uscan we as people conquer our emotions and our behavior in the face of despair? Even though the subject matter is thick, the humour given by Christoph Waltz and Hong Chau keeps things light. The chemistry between Matt Damon, as the easy do-gooder and Hong Chau since the feisty political dissident is moving and hilarious occasionally. The attention to detail in every scene, such as when the downsized people are picked up using a spatula or whenever they exude giant vodka bottles attached to some tiny sailboat, are a joy to see.
This is 1 movie that appears at a much larger issue when it comes to decreasing humans than any prior movie on the topic. Once it dithers in exactly what it needs to finally say, it's surely an enjoyable watch.
